Exit the Paris Agreement
The party's agriculture policy says New Zealand should get out of the Paris Accord, arguing it would cost less to exit than to buy international carbon credits to meet the 2030 target. It instead backs ecological, low-chemical farming and river engineering to reduce flood risk.
Revise the RMA and release land to speed up house building
The housing policy would make land available for new subdivisions and urban developments, revise the Resource Management Act to speed up building, and contract construction companies under a mix of public and private housing. New builds would need R5 insulation, green space and energy-saving design.
Entrench the Bill of Rights as supreme law
Would make the New Zealand Bill of Rights Act supreme law so no future government or emergency declaration could override rights such as freedom of speech and movement or the right to refuse medical treatment. It also promotes direct democracy so local communities can make their own laws.
"Open Source First" for government software
Proposes that government favour open-source software over proprietary licences from multinational vendors, retaining strategic control of its digital infrastructure, using open standards and investing in local capability to cut ongoing licence costs and dependence on overseas suppliers.
